Living off the grid

This summer, a very innovating new concept is coming to the Netherlands. Then, a company starts  building a whole neighborhood, called ReGen Village, which is completely self-sufficient. “The Tesla of the eco-villages”. These neighborhood with 25 pilot houses should be completely able to grow their own food, generate their own wind and electricity. The system they use is called aquaponics. This is a circle where they feed flies with composted garbage, the flies will be eaten by fish and the fish can be used to fertilize the crops. Easy! There will be seasonal products which fit the needs of the villagers. There are plans to build these villages everywhere on the world in a few years. But I like the fact that the first pilot is in the Netherlands!

So, imagine what this could do for food and living in the future. This way, the image of stereotypical villages will change, and they will become more self-sufficient. Supermarkets aren’t that important anymore and people will be more healthy, because they can only eat what they grow. Besides the beautiful visualization and looks of the village, it’s also super eco-friendly! And because the world is growing exponentially, a little peace and quiet never gets old. In fact, this is also an innovation, but it doesn’t affect the environment. In fact, it does exactly the opposite. It helps the environment and besides that, people are getting more rest. On long term, this would affect the people’s quality of life in a good way, I think. People then are more into the slow living, waiting for your food to grow instead of just buy it immediately.

I’m looking forward to how this concept will develop, maybe in the future, we will all live in such villages? Who knows?
